Kim Penner

Collections by Kim Penner:

Canadian artist, Kim Penner, lives in a 100 year old home near Lacombe, Alberta. She spends her day, painting, riding horses and raising her family.

Kim was raised near Morden, Manitoba, and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in both Fine Art and Education. Kim began her artistic career early in life. She received encouragement from her teachers and strong support from her parents, who would enter Kim's artwork in local fairs and art festivals.

Kim is passionate about horses. Research for her paintings takes her far & wide, from the rolling hills of Kentucky, to the breathtaking beauty of the Rocky Mountains. She insists on portraying horses in their natural surroundings — both domestically and in the wild.

Kim Penner’s work has been well received by collectors from around the world. She has received numerous awards, including the “Best New Artist” award at the 1997 Calgary Exhibition & Stampede Western Art Auction, the “Best of Show” award in 2003 for “Spirit of the West” and again at the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede Western Art Auction, and “Best of Show” at the 2006 Calgary Stampede Sales Salon.

Her paintings have been featured in publications such as Horse & Rider, The Paint Horse Journal, US Art, and the Collector Edition of New York. Her art is also featured on stationary products including an annual calendar by Pineridge Art.

Kim’s decision to be an artist is a path that seems pre-ordained for her! Visit Kim at http://www.kimpenner.com.
